Live news

Hey all,

I lived a bit on a rollercoaster last week. But it's so much fun. This morning I had some time to relax a bit with a fine cup of coffee, and see if there is some interesting JH news around.

And yes, there is. And some of it is regarding live performances. I'll group them here.

  • First of all

The official website announced 3 new 'Invisible Hour' tour dates.
January 18, 2015 : Minneapolis
January 19, 2015 : Chicago
January 20, 2015 : Louisville

  • Cincinnati Pops

As I posted before Joe will be joining John Morris Russell, Rosanne Cash, Over the Rhine, Don Flemons, Aoife O’Donovan and Comet Bluegrass All-Stars for an 'American Originals' concert.

Shows will be on January 23,24 and 25.

This has now been confirmed by Joe's official website.

  • Acoustic Cafe

Last week, while he was in Nashville, Joe was invited to record a few songs for radioshow Acoustic Cafe. This taping hosted not only Joe, but also Lee Ann Womack

from the tennessean
The ever-prolific Henry played a few typically insightful and brooding tunes from his new Invisible Hour album, as well as fielding several questions from Reinhart concerning the recent release of the Henry-produced Look Again to the Wind: Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears Revised.

The show will be broadcasted later this fall. Acoustic Cafe airs in Nashville from 10 am-noon Sundays on WRLT-FM (100.1)

  •  Americana awards show available  soon

As of January 1th, NPR will be streaming the Americana awards where Joe, together with Emmylou Harris presented the award for duo of the year to the milk carton kids
Looking at a picture on the americana music association's website, Joe also performed in a (how to put it ?) an 'all star performance' maybe ?

also : PBS will broadcast an edited version of the show as an Austin City Limits specialACL Presents: Americana Music Festival in November, 2014

From an article on engine145.com I conclude that the 'all star' band played 'Get Rythm' by Johnny Cash.
  • Lots of pictures of the City Winery show together with Rodney Crowell, Laura Cantrell, Grant-Lee Phillips & Robyn Hitchcock.

Photographer Amos Perrine has lots of pictures on his flickr page .

From Blurtonline
.....The newly christened City Winery, opened mere days before, was the site for solo sets by Joe Henry and Robyn Hitchcock, both of whom held the crowd wowed and rapt throughout. The beauty of Henry’s intimate compositions was countered by Hitchcock’s off kilter psychedelia.....
